Parco Dora, Post-industrial park in Turin, Italy.
Parco Dora is a large park in Turin built on former factory grounds while preserving original industrial structures like cooling towers and power plants from the old Fiat and Michelin operations. It is divided into five sections offering sports facilities, cycling paths, and open spaces for events and daily use.
The site was an important industrial zone with factories and warehouses from the 1950s until being abandoned in the 1990s. The transformation into a public park began after that, opening to visitors in 2011.
Street art covers the cooling towers and the space hosts major food festivals that bring together people from different backgrounds to celebrate local and international traditions. These gatherings have made it a meeting place where the community shares meals and stories.
The park is divided into five named sections, making it easy to visit a specific area or explore different parts across several visits. Cycling paths and walking routes are well-laid out, and visitors can use the restored riverbank paths to move between sections.
The Dora Riparia river flows through the park and was specially restored to become visible again after being hidden in pipes for many years. This reintegration of the river with industrial structures creates an unusual connection between nature and factory heritage.
