Villa Ginori

Villa Ginori is an 18th-century residence on the Tuscan coast near where the Cecina River meets the sea. The building incorporates a defensive tower from the 16th century and now serves as a military administrative center.

Carlo Ginori commissioned the villa in 1740, reusing the remains of an older coastal defense structure. It was built when the region was being settled for the first time on a permanent basis.

The villa shaped how this area developed from its earliest days. The buildings and layout reflect the period when families first settled here to establish a coastal community.

The site sits right on the coast and is easy to reach near Marina di Cecina. It functions as a military facility now, so access to the interior is limited, but the exterior can be viewed from nearby roads.

The structure was featured in a 1960s Italian film about coastal life in the region. This film history remains largely unknown today, but cinema enthusiasts can discover an overlooked piece of local film heritage here.
