Teatro della Fortuna

Teatro della Fortuna is a neoclassical theatre in central Fano with 595 seats located within the Palazzo della Ragione complex. The building houses two performance spaces: the main Sala Poletti for theatrical productions and the Sala Verdi for concerts and conferences.

Designed by architect Luigi Poletti, the theatre opened in 1863 after replacing an earlier structure from 1677 created by Giacomo Torelli. The site itself had been the location of important civic spaces for centuries.

The main hall ceiling shows a concentric crown design with the Fasti di Apollo fresco, while the curtain depicts Emperor Augustus entering the ancient city. These images tell the story of the place's Roman past and its connection to classical power.

The theatre is located in the heart of Fano and is easily accessible by foot from the city's main streets. Keep in mind that it remains an active performance venue, so entry may be restricted to specific times or scheduled events.

The theatre walls preserve fragments of 16th-century frescoes from the original Palazzo del Podestà, which was built on this site in 1299. These hidden artistic remains link the current building to a much earlier period of the city's life.
