Casa Coraggio stands at 34 Via Vittorio Veneto, at its intersection with Via Regina Vittoria, between the Valdese and Anglican churches of Bordighera.
The palace, constructed around 1880, became the winter residence of Scottish writer George MacDonald and his family, who sought a warmer climate for health reasons.
The palace's grand living room accommodated 200 guests, with George MacDonald hosting weekly poetry readings and theatrical presentations for the British community.
The building transformed from a private residence into Hotel de la Reine after MacDonald's departure, and now functions as an apartment complex.
Memorial plaques on the facade commemorate both George MacDonald and Italian writer Edmondo De Amicis, who later stayed at the converted hotel.
