Lowe Gardens, Botanical garden in Bordighera, Italy.
Lowe Gardens is a botanical garden in Bordighera with Mediterranean plant collections spread across landscaped grounds. More than sixty ancient olive trees grow alongside various palm species and a notable Grevillea robusta tree, all connected by the original pathways that shape the garden layout.
Charles Henry Lowe gave these gardens to Bordighera in 1902 as a gift to the city. From the start, the space was designed as a rest area for elderly people and those dealing with health difficulties.
The garden serves as a community gathering space where outdoor performances and social events happen during the summer months. Its design reflects an intention to create a welcoming place where people of all conditions could come together.
The gardens are located at 54 Via Vittorio Veneto and offer easy access through well-maintained walking paths. The routes are designed to be accessible and comfortable for visitors moving through the different plant areas.
The garden property adjoins Victoria Hall, another building donated by Lowe that once functioned as a public theater. The structure was later converted into residential space and remains an interesting reminder of the area's past uses.
