Spiaggia di Scialara, Beach in Vieste, Italy

Scialara beach stretches roughly three kilometers along the Adriatic Sea with golden sand and clear waters backed by limestone cliffs. The shoreline is broken up by several bathing establishments and offers a flat waterfront suitable for walking.

The area was shaped by agriculture and wetlands with vineyards through the 20th century before becoming a coastal tourism destination. The old farmland disappeared as visitor infrastructure was built up.

Small freshwater streams known locally as 'currènd' flow through artificial channels from the hills into the sea, reflecting the area's farming heritage. These waterways shape how the beach looks today and show how water was once managed for agriculture.

The water stays shallow, making it suitable for families with children, especially toward the beginning of the shoreline. Bathing establishments are spread across the beach, so it helps to plan which section works best for your group before arriving.

The Pizzomunno is a large limestone rock rising about 25 meters from the water and visible from many spots on the beach. This monolith serves as a distinctive landmark and favorite photo spot, especially at sunset.
