Al al-Bayt University, public university in Jordan
Al al-Bayt University is a public university in Mafraq, in northern Jordan. The campus brings together teaching buildings, research facilities, and student spaces across a large open site on the edge of the city.
The university was founded in 1992 to bring higher education to the Mafraq region, which had limited access to academic institutions at the time. It gradually expanded its faculties and now serves students from across Jordan and beyond.
The campus sits on the outskirts of Mafraq and is easiest to reach by car, with parking available on site. Visitors should head to the main entrance first, as staff there can direct you to the right building or faculty.
The name Al al-Bayt translates from Arabic as "the house of the Prophet's family", which reflects the Islamic heritage of the region where the university stands. This name is also shared with a broader pan-Islamic academic network that the university is part of.
