Tabarbour is a residential district in northern Amman situated at about 920 meters elevation, serving as a passage to central and northern regions. The area combines residential neighborhoods with key transportation infrastructure and administrative facilities.
The name comes from 'Tabar' meaning small ax and 'Bour' meaning rocky ground, reflecting the area's early agricultural character. The district grew from a rural settlement into an urban area with growing administrative functions.
The district contains numerous military establishments, including the General Command of Jordanian Armed Forces and the office of King Abdullah II.
