Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts

The Jordan National Gallery of Fine Arts comprises two buildings in Jabal al-Luweibdeh connected by a sculpture park. The collection contains around 2800 artworks in various forms including paintings, sculptures, photographs, installations, weavings, and ceramics.

The gallery was founded in 1980 by the Royal Society of Fine Arts, with King Hussein and Queen Noor Al Hussein attending the official opening. The structure underwent renovation later and gained international recognition for its architectural design.

The collection features works by artists from the Middle East and Africa exploring themes of local history and contemporary concerns. Visitors can directly experience the artistic voice of these regions and understand what matters to contemporary creators from these areas.

The museum sits in a hilly neighborhood and is accessible on foot from the city center. Plan to spend at least two hours for a proper visit, especially if you want to explore both buildings.

The building was designed by Mohamed al-Asad and received a prestigious architecture award in 2007. The blend of modern design and traditional elements creates a memorable setting for viewing art.
