Abdoun Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge in Amman, Jordan.
The Abdoun Bridge is a cable-stayed system with three Y-shaped towers that spans across Wadi Abdoun. The structure uses steel cables to support the roadway and covers a distance of about 417 meters at a height of about 71 meters above the valley floor.
Construction began in December 2002 and concluded with an opening ceremony in December 2006. The project was part of a broader effort to improve transportation connections between different areas of the city.
The bridge connects neighborhoods that were previously hard to reach and has changed daily commutes for thousands of people. It has become an ordinary part of the city landscape and a sign of Amman's modern growth.
The crossing handles constant vehicle traffic with multiple lanes for traffic flow. Visitors should know that the bridge is heavily used during peak hours and is easier to navigate during quieter times.
The bridge follows an S-curve shape in its deck design to connect seamlessly with existing roads on both sides. This curved form allowed for better integration with the city's terrain and road layout.
