Minami-Urawa Station, Elevated railway station in Minami-ku, Saitama, Japan.
Minami-Urawa Station is an elevated railway stop in Minami-ku where the Keihin-Tōhoku Line and the Musashino Line cross paths. Two island platforms handle one route, while two side platforms sit perpendicular above street level for the other line.
The station opened for service on July 1, 1961, along the Keihin-Tōhoku Line. Twelve years later, platforms for the Musashino Line were added, turning the site into an interchange point.
The station design integrates Japanese railway architecture principles with elevated platforms and a mezzanine level housing essential passenger facilities.
A mezzanine level with ticket counters connects the different platforms and allows transfers between both lines. On weekdays, trains carry commuters from residential areas in Saitama Prefecture to central Tokyo and back.
Several trains on the Keihin-Tōhoku Line begin and end their journeys here instead of running the entire route. The station sits roughly 22.5 kilometers (14 miles) north of the capital's center.
