Mikawa-Anjō Station, Interchange railway station in Mikawaanjō-chō, Japan
Mikawa-Anjō is an elevated interchange station in Mikawaanjō-chō with four side platforms serving local and high-speed rail lines. The platforms sit above street level and handle two separate routes with dedicated tracks for each service.
Local mayors filed a petition in 1969 requesting a new station and the prefectural government selected the Nihongi site in Anjō in 1984. The station opened later as part of the high-speed rail network expansion through the area.
The station connects visitors to regional attractions including museums dedicated to Nishio City's matcha green tea production and Hekinan City's mirin breweries.
Automated ticket machines and electronic gates are available and a staffed counter provides additional help when needed. The platforms can be reached by stairs and elevators so travelers can move between different levels.
Two central passing tracks allow faster trains to bypass the station without stopping at the platforms. This arrangement lets local and through traffic move simultaneously through the station.
