Awashimaura

Awashimaura is a fishing village on an island in the Sea of Japan, characterized by hilly terrain and a long coastline. The settlement is organized around small ports where boats dock and fishing communities gather to work.

Pottery remains from the Jomon period show that people settled here thousands of years ago. These early inhabitants relied on the sea's resources, establishing a tradition that continues to define the island today.

Large numbers of streaked shearwaters arrive here each year to breed, making the island an important refuge for these seabirds. Visitors willing to explore quietly may encounter these birds, especially during nesting season.
