Hatsukaichi, Coastal city in Hiroshima Prefecture, Japan

The city stretches from the Seto Inland Sea coastline to the Chugoku Mountains, covering an area of 489 square kilometers with a population of 116,087 residents.

The settlement originated as a market town named after its twentieth-day gatherings, later expanding through the reconstruction activities of Itsukushima Shrine in the 13th century.

The Japan Mint Hiroshima branch opens its grounds during spring, allowing visitors to experience cherry blossom viewing among numerous specimen trees.

Transportation access includes the San'yo Main Line railway, several national routes, and regular ferry services connecting to the nearby island of Miyajima.

The Megahira mountain resort features the nearest ski slopes to Hiroshima city and contains a mixed-gender hot spring where swimsuits are required.
