Miyazu, Coastal city in Kyoto Prefecture, Japan

Miyazu stands at the base of Tango Peninsula, extending along Wakasa Bay with a 172 square kilometer territory and 16,988 residents.

The area served as the provincial capital of Tango Province during the Nara period, later becoming a trading port with the United States in 1899.

The Motoise Kono Shrine maintains connections with Amaterasu-Omikami deity through its architectural elements and religious ceremonies throughout the year.

The city network includes the Kyoto Tango Railway system, National Routes 176 and 178, and a seaport for maritime transportation.

The Amanohashidate sandbar stretches 3.6 kilometers across Miyazu Bay, containing thousands of pine trees along its natural formation.
