Ichikawa, Educational city in Chiba Prefecture, Japan.

Ichikawa extends along the Edo River in western Chiba Prefecture, covering 57 square kilometers with a population density of 8,577 persons per square kilometer.

The area served as the provincial capital of Shimōsa Province during the Nara period and developed from three towns known for salt production.

The Nakayama Hokekyō-ji temple maintains numerous cultural assets while Satomi Park displays seasonal cherry trees throughout its grounds.

Multiple railway lines operated by JR East, Keisei Electric Railway, and Tokyo Metropolitan Bureau connect Ichikawa directly to central Tokyo.

The Wild Bird Observatory provides specialized telescopes for visitors to observe various bird species along the Edo River throughout the year.
