Tama, Residential city in western Tokyo, Japan

Tama spreads across the foothills of Okutama Mountains with the Tama River marking its northern boundary and numerous parks scattered throughout the urban landscape.

The region transformed from 11 small hamlets into Tama Village in 1889, later becoming a town in 1964 before achieving city status in 1971.

The Archaeological Center presents exhibits and artifacts from the Jomon period, while Ono Shrine maintains traditional wood carvings from the 8th century.

Three railway lines connect at Tama Center station, offering direct access to central Tokyo within 40 minutes through Keio and Odakyu lines.

Sanrio Puroland, an indoor theme park, features Hello Kitty attractions with shows, parades, and character experiences throughout its multiple levels.
