The burial mound dates to the seventh century and reflects the funerary practices of that era. Excavations in 2003 uncovered silver ornaments, glass beads, and iron weapons within the tomb.
This kofun represents the burial traditions of ancient Japanese society, indicating the social rank and status of individuals through specialized tomb construction.
The site is walkable from Nishifu Station and can be reached in around eight minutes. A nearby museum offers additional information about the history and discoveries at the location.
Ground-penetrating radar investigations in 1994 detected a substantial stone structure at the summit, leading to the recognition of this mound as a kofun.
