Higashikagawa, Coastal city in eastern Kagawa Prefecture, Japan

Higashikagawa extends over 152 square kilometers along the Seto Inland Sea, featuring mountain ranges to the south and agricultural lands throughout the region.

The city emerged from the merger of three municipalities in 2003, while its Hiketa port served as a key gateway to Shikoku from the mainland during the Heian period.

The local community maintains traditional puppet performances at Toramaru Puppet Land, preserving centuries-old entertainment practices of the region.

Five train stations on the JR Kotoku Line connect Higashikagawa to major cities, with Limited Express Uzushio trains stopping at selected stations.

The city produces 90 percent of Japan's baseball gloves, establishing itself as a central manufacturing hub for sports equipment nationwide.
