Furano Station, Railway station in Furano, Japan
Furano Station is a railway facility in the town of Furano with two island platforms and four tracks serving both the Nemuro Main Line and the Furano Line. The station sits at an elevation of 172 meters and handles around 696 passengers daily.
The station opened on August 1, 1900 as Shimo-Furano Station and received its current name on April 1, 1942 as part of a railway network expansion. This name change reflected broader changes happening across the region's rail system.
The station serves as a hub for travelers heading to Furano's famous lavender fields and the farming areas that surround the town. Visitors pass through here to reach these popular destinations and experience the region's character.
The station has a staffed ticket office where you can purchase or modify tickets, and trains run hourly to help with travel planning. The facility is straightforward to navigate and easy to find your way around.
Starting in 2024, the station will become the eastern terminus of the western portion of the Nemuro Main Line when the Furano-Shintoku segment closes. This shift will change how the station functions within the regional network.
