Aoyama

Aoyama is a shopping and fashion district in Minato positioned between Shibuya and Akasaka, featuring international design houses and modern buildings along tree-lined streets. The area includes upscale restaurants and contemporary galleries.

The area took its name from Aoyama Tadanari, a samurai who served the Tokugawa shogunate and held an estate here during the 16th century. Over time, the private lands transformed into the fashionable district seen today.
