Agawa District, Administrative district in Kōchi Prefecture, Japan
Agawa District is an administrative district in Kōchi Prefecture made up of two municipalities situated in the southern part of the region. It covers forested and hilly land typical of rural areas in this part of Japan.
The area went through major changes between 2004 and 2005 when several smaller communities merged together. These mergers created the current administrative divisions and shaped the district as it exists today.
The district maintains traditional Japanese administrative structures while adapting to modern governance needs through municipal reorganizations and community development programs.
Visitors can find services and facilities within the two main municipalities in the district. The area is best explored by car, as public transportation options are limited in this rural region.
The district experienced multiple municipal mergers since 2004, including the incorporation of Gohoku village into Ino and the creation of Niyodogawa from three separate entities.
