Fujisawa Station, Railway interchange station in Fujisawa, Japan.
Fujisawa Station is a railway interchange in Fujisawa city in Kanagawa Prefecture where lines from JR East, Odakyu Electric Railway, and Enoshima Electric Railway meet. The platforms sit at different levels and are linked by a central pedestrian bridge that ties the separate areas together.
The terminal opened on July 11, 1887, linking the growing capital with coastal towns in Kanagawa Prefecture. Over the decades additional companies joined, turning it into a key hub for commuters and tourists.
The name Fujisawa comes from the historic town that once served as a post station along the old Tōkaidō road. Today you see commuters at the different platforms switching between the three railway companies while travelers head toward the coastal towns.
If you need to switch between the three companies, follow signs to the pedestrian bridge and allow enough time for the transfer. The ticket counters in the main hall help with directions to destinations across the region.
The Enoshima Electric Railway terminates here and begins its journey along the coast to the temples and beaches of Kamakura. From the main building it takes only a few minutes on foot to the shops and restaurants in central Fujisawa.
