Shin-Tosu Station, Railway station in Tosu, Japan
Shin-Tosu Station is a railway station in Tosu with two elevated island platforms for the Shinkansen line and two ground-level platforms for conventional trains underneath. The structure connects two different railway systems at a single location.
The station opened in 2011 and created a new connection between the Kyushu Shinkansen and the Nagasaki Line. This was an important step in integrating high-speed and regional rail networks in the region.
The station incorporates Japanese railway design principles with its Midori no Madoguchi ticket office system and efficient platform organization.
The station is easy to navigate, with clear signage and separate areas for Shinkansen and local trains. Visitors can switch between levels quickly and find connections without difficulty.
Two of the four Shinkansen tracks, specifically platforms 11 and 14, remain unused during regular operations. This shows the station was designed with future growth and possible line expansion in mind.
