Toyosu Station, Railway and metro station in Koto district, Tokyo, Japan
Toyosu Station is a rail and metro interchange in the Toyosu district of Tokyo, Japan, where the Tokyo Metro Yurakucho Line and the driverless Yurikamome monorail-type line meet. It has both underground and elevated platforms, with exits leading to the surrounding shopping and office buildings.
The station opened in 1988 as part of an extension of the Yurakucho Line toward the eastern edge of Tokyo Bay. The Yurikamome line stop followed in 1995, connecting the area more directly to Shiodome and the rest of the waterfront.
Toyosu Station sits at the edge of a district built on reclaimed land in Tokyo Bay, and this setting is visible through the wide windows of the elevated Yurikamome platforms. Passengers waiting for trains can see the water, the bridges, and the towers of the surrounding neighborhood from the platform level.
Transferring between the underground metro and the elevated Yurikamome line takes a few minutes of walking, so it is worth allowing extra time if you have a connection to make. The station has elevators and wide corridors, making it easy to navigate even with luggage or a stroller.
The Yurikamome line that stops here runs without a driver, and sitting in the front car gives a clear view of the track ahead and the bay beyond. This front-seat perspective is something many visitors discover by chance and tend to remember.
