Kamo district

Kamo is a district in Gifu Prefecture comprising several municipalities spread across the area. Each town within the district has its own character and serves different purposes for residents and visitors.

The district formed during the late 1800s through the consolidation of several villages into organized municipalities. Over time, the communities developed their own local identities while remaining connected administratively.

Each municipality within the district maintains its own festivals, with Yaotsu organizing regular events that demonstrate local traditions.

The area is best explored by car or local transit, as the towns are spread across a wider region. Each municipality has its own amenities and services for those passing through.

The seven towns of Kamo district each specialize in different sectors, from Kawabe's agricultural focus to Shirakawa's historical preservation efforts.
