Iwatsuki-ku

Iwatsuki-ku spans across 49.17 square kilometers in the northeastern section of Saitama city, with a population density of 2,300 residents per square kilometer.

The area grew from a castle town during the Muromachi period and functioned as a post station along the Nikko Onari Kaido route between Edo and Nikko.

The ward maintains eight citizen centers that provide local services, educational programs, and community gathering spaces for residents throughout the district.

The ward office operates in the WATSU Higashi-kan building on Honcho Street, offering administrative services from Monday through Friday between 8:30 AM and 5:15 PM.

Since the 17th century, this region has specialized in traditional doll manufacturing, leading to its designation as the City of Dolls.
