Atsuta-ku, Administrative ward in Nagoya, Japan

Located in central Nagoya, Atsuta-ku extends across 8.2 square kilometers and maintains a population of 66,261 residents as of 2021.

The ward gained its independence in 1937 when it separated from Minami-ku, establishing itself as one of the sixteen administrative divisions of Nagoya.

Atsuta-ku contains the Atsuta Shrine, which preserves the sacred Kusanagi sword, an essential imperial regalia of Japan dating back centuries.

Multiple railway lines serve the ward, including the Meijo and Meiko subway lines, Meitetsu Nagoya line, and JR Central Tokaido main line.

The ward houses the headquarters of Nippon Sharyo, a major manufacturer of railroad equipment and rolling stock for railway systems worldwide.
