Ōmagari, Former municipality in Akita Prefecture, Japan
Ōmagari was a municipality in Akita Prefecture located in northeastern Honshū. It served as a local administrative center in the Semboku region before its merger with neighboring communities.
The municipality merged with several neighboring towns and villages from Semboku District in 2005 to form the new city of Daisen. This consolidation was part of broader administrative reorganization efforts in the region.
Multiple settlements including Hanadate, Uchiotomo, Okawanishine, Fujiki, Yotsuya, and Kakumagawa formed the administrative structure when Omagari received city status.
Visitors can explore this former municipality today as part of the city of Daisen and its local infrastructure. Local museums and community offices provide the best information about the area's heritage.
A notable baseball pitcher named Juei Ushiromatsu originated from this area and later played for the New York Mets in Major League Baseball. His career connects this region to international sports history.
