Fukui Castle

Fukui Castle is a Japanese castle built on a hilltop in Ibaraki featuring multiple defensive structures and stone foundations. The site reveals the layout of its former military installation through remaining walls and ground-level remains.

The castle became operational around 1528 and functioned as a strategic military position until it was destroyed by fire in 1657. This fire marked the end of its use as an active fortress.

The site reflects traditional Japanese military design with its honmaru central compound and fortification layout built into the hillside. Walking through the ruins, you can sense how this structure once commanded the surrounding terrain.
