Odakyu Southern Tower, Hotel tower at Shinjuku Southern Terrace, Japan
Odakyu Southern Tower is a 36-story high-rise building in Yoyogi, Tokyo, housing a hotel and commercial spaces across its floors and four basement levels below ground. The tower sits directly next to Shinjuku Station and has several dining options, including the Italian restaurant PECCE D'ORO.
The building opened in February 1998 as part of a broader redevelopment of the southern exit area of Shinjuku Station. Shortly after opening, it received the BCS Prize for its architectural design.
On the second floor, a shop called KONNE sells products exclusively from Miyazaki Prefecture, a region in southern Japan known for its local food and crafts. Visitors can browse regional specialties that are not easy to find elsewhere in Tokyo.
The tower connects directly to Shinjuku Station through an indoor passage, so you can reach it without going outside regardless of the weather. Once inside, signage is clear and the different areas, including the hotel, restaurants, and shops, are easy to find from the main lobby.
From the upper floors of the hotel, one of the few open views over Shinjuku Station from the south side is available, where the tracks and the station complex spread out below. This perspective is rarely noticed by visitors who arrive through the underground connection.
