Ayauta district, Administrative district in Kagawa Prefecture, Japan.
Ayauta is an administrative district in Kagawa Prefecture composed of two towns named Ayagawa and Utazu. The territory includes both rural areas and smaller settlements connected by local roads and regional infrastructure.
The district was established in 1899 through the consolidation of two earlier administrative divisions. It later underwent reorganization that eventually shaped its current composition and boundaries.
The district plays an important role in the production of Sanuki udon noodles, a regional specialty of Kagawa Prefecture that visitors can taste in local restaurants. Small family farms and food producers here continue traditional techniques that have shaped the area's culinary identity.
The area is well connected by local roads and can be explored by car or public transportation. It is best visited when weather is stable, allowing easy access to rural areas and smaller towns throughout the district.
The district underwent significant restructuring in 2006 when two municipalities merged to form a new city with a redesigned administrative structure. This merger reshaped both the political geography and the daily life of residents in the area.
