Hōnen-ji

Hōnen-ji is a Buddhist temple in Takamatsu featuring numerous stone lanterns, a five-story pagoda, and traditional Japanese gardens with ponds spread across its grounds. The layout and planted areas create spaces for walking and observing throughout the site.

The site is reachable on foot from the nearby train station, and parking is available for cars on the grounds. Wear sturdy footwear since the terrain is uneven and there are several steps to navigate.

The grounds feature a path called Niga Byakudo that guides visitors on a symbolic journey toward the Raigodo Hall. This path represents a religious concept and adds deeper meaning to walking through the site.
