The collection encompasses 12,876 artworks, focusing on modern Japanese art from the Kansai region, including paintings, sculptures, ceramics, and textiles from the late 19th century.
Located near Heian Shrine and Kyoto City Zoo, the museum welcomes visitors daily except Mondays, with special exhibitions changing throughout the year.
The institution maintains specialized collections from notable donors, including the Kawasachi Collection of Kawai Kanjiro works and the Ueno Collection of Bruno Taut materials.
