Nakaniikawa district

Nakaniikawa district spans across 547.55 square kilometers and contains three municipalities: two towns named Kamiichi and Tateyama, plus one village called Funahashi.

The district emerged from the division of Kaminiikawa District in 1896, initially comprising five towns and twenty-nine villages under the new administrative structure.

Local communities in the district maintain traditional festivals and celebrations throughout the seasons, connecting residents with Japanese heritage through structured events.

The district maintains a population density of 91 persons per square kilometer, with an estimated total population of 49,839 residents as recorded in 2016.

The district territory includes sections of the Tateyama Mountain Range and provides access to the Tateyama Kurobe Alpine Route transportation system.
