Tokyo Fuji Art Museum, Art museum in Yanomachi, Japan.
The Tokyo Fuji Art Museum is an art museum in Yanomachi that displays Western paintings, jewelry, sculptures, ceramics, photography and historical objects across multiple exhibition halls. The collection spans five centuries and is organized into thematic sections that offer visitors an overview of different art periods.
Daisaku Ikeda founded the museum in 1983 with an exhibition of French masterpieces. Over the following decades, the institution expanded its collection through acquisitions and international partnerships, becoming a place of cultural exchange between East and West.
The museum holds works from Japan, Europe and America, including paintings by Renoir and Monet alongside Japanese lacquerware and ceramics. Visitors can walk through rooms where different periods and styles are presented side by side, making the dialogue between cultures visible.
The museum is open from Tuesday to Sunday between 10 AM and 5 PM, remaining closed on Mondays. Visitors should plan around two hours to explore the main sections of the collection and take time with individual works.
The museum has sent exhibitions to 28 cities worldwide and brought works from 17 countries to Japan since its opening. These exchange programs have allowed visitors to see artworks that would not otherwise be found in Japan.
