Jōzai-ji, Buddhist temple in Gifu, Japan
The temple contains portrait paintings of Saito Dosan and Saito Yoshitatsu, both recognized as important cultural assets of Japan.
Built in 1450 by Saito Myochin, the temple served as the family temple for three generations of the Saito clan during the Muromachi period.
The temple holds annual memorial services for Saito Dosan every first Saturday of April, coinciding with the Dosan Festival in Gifu.
Visitors can access the temple from JR Gifu Station or Meitetsu Gifu Station by taking a bus to Honmachi-1, followed by a three-minute walk.
The temple maintains the original silk portraits of feudal lord Saito Dosan and his son Yoshitatsu, which remain protected in the temple treasury.
