Izumi Garden Tower is a 201-meter skyscraper in Roppongi with 45 floors above ground and two basement levels. Its central tower of dark blue-green glass panels, framed by lighter vertical mullions, rises above a wider lower block of the same glass in a grid; two slender gray stone shafts run up the main facade, and a sign near the top reads "Izumi Garden Tower". The tower holds offices, a hotel, shops and restaurants, and its basement connects directly to Roppongi-itchome Station.
The building was completed in 2002 and was the tallest structure in Minato Ward when it opened. The design comes from Nikken Sekkei, a leading Japanese architecture firm known for large urban projects.
The name Izumi comes from Izumiya, the Edo-period shop name of the Sumitomo family, founders of the Sumitomo Group. The tower's 42nd floor and above hold the New Sumitomo Hall, a reception facility, while the lower floors are given over to a hotel and restaurants. A monument to Kafu Nagai's former residence, Hekigai-kan, stands at a corner of the site.
Visitors can access Roppongi-itchome Station directly through the basement level and connect to the Tokyo Metro Nanboku Line. The complex provides easy navigation through elevators and stairs connecting different zones and functions.
The structure connects to Izumi Garden Residence through a central courtyard system featuring escalators for residents. This interior connection creates a private passage between the public building and the residential community.
