Turkestan–Siberia Railway, Railway line between Central Asia and Siberia, Kazakhstan and Russia.
The Turkestan-Siberia Railway is a railway line spanning more than 2,300 kilometers that connects Arys with Novosibirsk. It crosses varied landscapes and serves over twenty stations handling both passenger and freight transport.
Construction began in 1926 and the line opened officially in 1929 after years of planning under Soviet leadership. It was built as part of a major program to industrialize and develop the economy.
The railway formation brought multiple communities together across Central Asia and Siberia, establishing new settlements and transforming regional demographics through increased mobility.
The route connects important economic regions and remains a significant transport corridor for goods between these areas. Travelers find multiple stops along the line that are important for longer journeys.
The Aktogay station serves as a junction and has connected this line to Chinese networks since 1990 through another railway. This made the region a crossing point for trade between Asia and Russia.
