South Pyongan Province

South Pyongan Province extends across 12,330 square kilometers, containing five major cities and nineteen counties between North Pyongan Province and North Hwanghae Province.

The region emerged in 1896 when the original Pyongan Province divided into northern and southern sections, continuing as a province through Japanese rule until 1945.

The provincial capital Pyongsong functions as an educational center with multiple research institutions and the Pyongsong University of Science and Medicine.

Transportation networks include two railway stations on the P'yŏngra Line and a trolleybus system that connects different neighborhoods throughout the urban areas.

The March 16 Factory in Pyongsong, established in 1977, operates as the largest manufacturing facility in the province, specializing in vehicle production.
