The Ch'ilbo-san mountain range extends across 250 square kilometers, featuring three distinct regions and reaching an elevation of 1,103 meters at its peak.
The Kaesim Temple, established in 826 within the Ch'ilbo-san range, stands as one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries in North Korea's North Hamgyong Province.
The name Ch'ilbo translates to 'seven treasures,' reflecting local narratives about precious elements hidden within the mountain's geological formations.
Visitors can explore the mountain through designated hiking paths that connect the Internal, External, and Marine sections of the Ch'ilbo-san range.
The mountain contains 750 plant species, 40 bird species, and 10 reptile species, along with 11 natural monuments protected by North Korean conservation laws.
