Chilbosan

Chilbosan is a mountain range in North Hamgyong Province with three distinct regions and a peak elevation of 1,103 meters. The structure includes internal, external, and marine sections that form a complex landscape together.

Kaesim Temple was founded in 826 within the mountain range and stands as one of the oldest Buddhist monasteries in the region. Its presence reveals the long connection between this location and religious tradition.

The name Chilbosan means 'seven treasures' and connects to local stories about precious elements within the mountain's rock formations. This meaning shapes how people think about the landscape today.

The best time to visit is during warmer months when hiking paths are easily accessible and visibility is excellent. Wear sturdy footwear and prepare for changing elevation and weather conditions along the way.

The range hosts more than 750 plant species along with 40 bird species and 10 reptile species in its different zones. Several areas within it are designated as protected natural monuments under conservation law.
