Busan Citizens Park, Public park in central Busan, South Korea.
Busan Citizens Park is a 47-hectare (117-acre) green space in central Busan with five distinct themed gardens. The park combines preserved military structures with modern recreational facilities and natural landscapes in one continuous area.
The park opened in 2014 on the former site of Camp Hialeah, a U.S. military base returned to Busan city in 2010. This return marked a significant moment in reclaiming downtown space for the community.
Former military buildings now house an arts village and library, while the Officer's Club functions as a history museum. These transformations show how the community has repurposed the space for its own needs.
The site is easily reached by multiple bus lines and Seomyeon Station, with visitor centers and rest areas spread throughout. The flat terrain makes walking between different sections straightforward without steep routes to navigate.
The park preserves several military-era buildings and keeps them visible, helping visitors understand the site's past. These physical remains tell a story of how the land has transformed over time.
