Central Star, Residential skyscraper complex in 부전2동, Busan, South Korea
Central Star is a group of four residential skyscrapers in the 부전2동 neighborhood of Busan, South Korea. The tallest tower in the complex reaches about 207 meters with 58 floors, featuring large glass windows and straight lines on its facade.
Construction on Central Star began in 2007 and was completed in 2011. The project was developed by Daol Trust, with POSCO E&C serving as the main contractor responsible for building the towers.
The name "Central Star" reflects the ambition of the project to stand as a landmark in Busan's modern urban landscape. Residents often use apartment balconies for everyday habits like drying laundry or sitting out to enjoy the city air.
The complex sits in a densely populated part of Busan with subway stations and bus stops nearby, making it easy to reach without a car. Those who want to view the towers from the outside can walk through the surrounding streets, which have wide sidewalks and plenty of shops along the way.
The design involved GDS Architects for the overall plan, while separate firms handled the structure, electrical systems, and mechanical systems in parallel. This kind of split across so many specialist teams on a single residential project is uncommon for the region.
