Busan Cinema Center, Entertainment complex in Centum City, South Korea
Busan Cinema Center is an entertainment complex with several buildings featuring glass walls, LED-lit roofs, and a wide outdoor plaza. The facility includes four indoor theaters equipped with digital projection, multiple performance spaces, and a large outdoor theater seating 4,000 people.
The complex was designed by Austrian architecture firm Coop Himmelb(l)au and opened on September 29, 2011. The project was part of Busan's development as a modern entertainment district in the U-dong area.
This is the main venue for the Busan International Film Festival, drawing filmmakers and cinema professionals from across Asia. You can see how the city becomes a hub for cinema culture during the festival season.
The plaza is easy to navigate with wide entrances and clear signage directing you to different areas. Most visitors can find their way to screenings or events quickly, as the layout is straightforward and well-organized.
The roof stretches over 80 meters across the plaza without support columns, creating an open feeling throughout the space. A massive LED screen on the facade displays film scenes and artistic content, becoming the district's main focal point.
