Busan Harbor Bridge, Cable-stayed bridge in Busan, South Korea.
The Busan Harbor Bridge is a cable-stayed bridge in Busan, South Korea, crossing the harbor between the Yeongdo and Nam districts. Two tall towers carry the road deck on cables, and the structure allows large vessels to pass beneath it.
Work on the bridge started in 2007 and it opened in 2014, linking two districts that had long relied on indirect routes around the harbor. It was built as part of a broader effort to improve road connections in the port area of Busan.
The Busan Harbor Bridge appears regularly in Korean films and television dramas, making it one of the most recognizable backdrops in the country. Locals and visitors alike tend to stop at nearby viewpoints to photograph the bridge, especially after dark when it is lit up.
The bridge is open to car traffic and well signed from both the Yeongdo and Nam sides. For views of the towers and the harbor, the waterfront areas on either bank are worth visiting separately on foot.
The bridge sits very close to the older Busan Bridge, so from the water you can see two major crossings side by side within a short distance. Taking a harbor ferry gives a clear view of both structures together, which is something most road users never notice.
