The port handles 6 million tons of cargo annually and accommodates 3,000 ships through its container terminal operated by Beirut Container Terminal Consortium.
The 2020 ammonium nitrate explosion at Warehouse 12 created a magnitude 3.3 blast detected by the US Geological Survey.
