Wadi Koura, Archaeological site in Ain Ebel, Lebanon
Located in the Nabatieh Governorate, Wadi Koura extends through limestone formations at an elevation between 750 and 850 meters above sea level.
Archaeological investigations at Wadi Koura revealed stone tools from the Heavy Neolithic period, with artifacts stored at Saint Joseph University for research purposes.
The site contains evidence of the Qaraoun culture, demonstrating the technological capabilities of prehistoric communities through discovered stone implements and tools.
Visitors can access the archaeological site throughout the year, with the spring season offering optimal conditions for examining the ancient stone formations.
French historian Ernest Renan discovered a bas-relief depicting Apollo and Artemis at this location, which is now exhibited at the Louvre Museum.
