The house was built in 1910 for a Legislative Council member and passed to the Adamjee Lukmanjee family in the 1920s. It was renamed from Lakshmigiri to Saifee Villa in the late 1970s, marking a significant change in ownership and purpose.
The house has served as a central gathering place for the Dawoodi Bohra community since 1979. Members of this community gather here for events and meetings that hold deep meaning for their cultural and religious life.
