El Badi Palace, Royal palace ruins in Medina district, Marrakesh, Morocco.
The rectangular palace complex contains a central courtyard with a large pool, multiple sunken gardens, and several high-walled pavilions built of stone.
Sultan Ahmad al-Mansur commissioned this palace in 1578, using wealth from military victories and sugar trade to import marble from Italy and gold from Mali.
The palace displays intricate geometric patterns in its zellij tilework, carved woodwork, and architectural elements that represent Moroccan design traditions.
The site opens daily to visitors who can explore the ruins, view exhibitions of historical artifacts, and attend cultural events throughout the year.
The minbar from Kutubiyya Mosque, featuring detailed wooden craftsmanship from the 12th century, remains preserved within the palace walls.
