Slat Al Azama Synagogue, Historic synagogue in Mellah district, Marrakesh, Morocco
The synagogue incorporates a central courtyard structure with traditional Moroccan mosaic tilework and marble Torah ark next to the eastern wall.
Founded in 1492 by Jews expelled from Spain, the synagogue underwent substantial modifications during the 1950s, including the addition of a women's wing.
The synagogue maintains Sephardic Jewish traditions and includes a yeshiva above the main floor for religious education and community gatherings.
Located within the UNESCO World Heritage Medina of Marrakesh, visitors can explore both the prayer hall and observe the architectural features.
The synagogue integrates into a traditional Moroccan riad structure, with four columns dividing the space into two distinct prayer naves.
